Tired of workshops where troubleshooting means “replace parts and hope”?

At Bilsmidigt, we are building our first workshop – and we are looking for someone who lives for difficult faults, intermittent problems, electrical communication, and smart troubleshooting methodologies.

This is a role for you who want ownership, the right conditions, and the mandate to diagnose properly – with a clear impact on how the workshop should function.

The role in brief

You will be our key person for diagnosis and advanced troubleshooting. You will work with passenger cars of many brands/models and help us build a working method where we:

• find the root cause faster
• reduce guesswork replacements
• document solutions so the team gets better every week

Examples of what you will do

• Advanced troubleshooting: intermittent faults, fault codes that “come back”, customer complaints without a clear cause
• Electrical systems/communication: CAN/LIN, voltage drops, ground faults, cable breaks, parasitic currents
• Measurement and methodology: multimeter, oscilloscope, current clamp, signal analysis, test plans
• Programming/coding/calibration (depending on the brand): sensors, modules, adaptations, learnings, ADAS-related when relevant
• Technical documentation: create “known fixes”, checklists, standardized test flows
• Support for the team: be the one who solves the tough cases and raises the level of the entire workshop

Who we think you are

You are not just a “skilled mechanic” – you are a diagnostician.

You recognize yourself in several of these:

• You troubleshoot through hypothesis → measurement → verification, not guessing
• You really know electrical and electronics (not just “read fault code”)
• You find it fun when others give up
• You enjoy documenting and building systems that make the workshop better over time

Meritorious (not required):

• Experience with OEM tools / J2534 / advanced diagnostic systems
• Experience from brand workshops, automotive electrician roles, tuning/ECU, or advanced troubleshooting environments
• English is sufficient – Swedish is not a must if you are the right person

Requirements:

• Relevant experience in diagnostics/troubleshooting
• Driving license B
